All arrived Thursday morning ready to get to work on the LT-5's. There were
two set up to be worked on. The one on the left is a 405 horsepower
'93-'94 4-bolt block. On the right is a 375 horsepower '90-'92 2-bolt block.
Note the distiguishing marks, the 4-bolt has a very evident cross hatch
pattern on both the sides of the block and the heads. The 2- or 4- reffers
to the number of bolts on on the crank supports. Also note the distict
differences in the oil pan. The 4-bolt (left) has is only partially covered,
wheras the 2-bolt (right) is covered by a full length baffle.
As you can see these are in two different states of construction. The 4-bolt on the left has the crank in and the heads on, but no head covers. The 2-bolt on the right is a bare shortblock without even a crank in it.
On the left here is the 4-bolt all together and on a test stand. It didn't
run, but it was together!
