A visit to Benetton Formula 1

Dave Hamer works at the Benetton F1 racing facility. He was nice enough to arrange for our litte tour of the facilities.

This is one of the rigs they left at home, the others were in Austria for the F1 race.
Upper left is a picture from the rear of an F1 Renault engine with Milstead trying to get his mug in the way. We were all impressed with the 4 inch cluch and 16,000 rpm redline. Above is a plumbing setup used to capture aerated oil in the F1 engine. We all know about this problem on the LT-5.

To the left, Eric Helling got to try out the drivers seat. You have to be 139 pounds and less than 5 ft 6 in tall.

Below and to the left Paul holds the super light caliper and rotor. And below is the the test rig. Man, this is some cool stuff!
